Looking for Love?

Monday, July 9th, 2007

801380_47406908_1.jpgThis may be old news to some of you, but apparently I’ve been living in a box for the past few months because I just found out that Arlington was named the #3 city in the United States for meeting men over 35.  Oprah even featured the city on her show back in April.

Men’s Health Magazine, in conjunction with The Oprah Winfrey Show, calculated the men-friendliness of different cities based on 7 categories:  ratios of single men to single women and of gay to straight; divorce rates; fitness; philanthropy; education; thrill factor (places with fun stuff that makes hearts race and bonds form).  Here’s what they had to say about our fair city: (more…)

Fireworks Abound this Independence Day

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

815054_35366069_1.jpgAs I mentioned yesterday, you can catch fireworks at the Lake tonight during the “Light Up the Lake” celebration.  Tomorrow night they’ll be lighting up the Ballpark in Arlington following the Rangers game against the Angels.  You can go to the game or just park near the stadium and enjoy the show.  We usually grab a spot in the southeast corner of the Six Flags Mall parking lot and have a great view.  The game starts at 7:35 so fireworks will probably begin sometime around 10:00, but you better find a spot to park well before then.  Tickets for the game start at $3 for kids and $6 for adults.

Here is a list of other celebrations in the Metroplex: (more…)
