Do You Have a Smart Yard?
If you do, you might want to enter the city’s Smart Yard contest.
Smart Yard is an event designed to recognize Arlington residents who use environmentally friendly yard management and design to develop a “smart yard” using the design concepts from Texas SmartScape and similar sources. Texas SmartScape encourages the use of native and adaptive plants and trees to design colorful, healthy landscapes that require less water, pesticides and fertilizers. This is the fourth year for the contest.
A panel of judges will evaluate properties through photographs and on-site visits. Residents may enter 2 categories per yard or address. All entries will be considered for the Best Overall category.
Winners will earn “braggin’ rights” and receive a sign designating their landscaping as a “Smart Yard.” If you would like more information on how to enter, visit the Smart Yard website. Entry deadline is August 15.
