Homeowners To See Lower Insurance Costs
The City of Arlington’s public protection rating has improved, which could result in as much as a 7 percent reduction in insurance costs for Arlington homeowners.
The City of Arlington has earned a 2 rating by the Texas Department of Insurance, which rates communities from 1 to 10 on their ability to protect the public from the hazard of fire. The system rates a community’s water supply, distribution, equipment, fire alarm processing and fire prevention efforts. The City of Arlington has had a 3 rating for about 17 years. The new rate will take effect on December 1, 2007.
Special presentation to the City Council begins at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 during the Afternoon Work Session in the City Hall Council Briefing Room, 101 W. Abram St. in downtown Arlington
“With over 93,000 households in our city, this is going to be a tremendous savings for Arlington homeowners,” said Mayor Robert Cluck. “The Arlington Fire Department, Water Utilities and Dispatch Services have spent more than a year working on this program, and the result is better fire protection and less money spent on homeowners insurance.”
