The cross-dressing bank robber struck again last Thursday. Authorities believe the same man who robbed the Washington Mutual on South Bowen on July 5 also robbed the Wachovia at 5615 SW Green Oaks Blvd. Police say the suspect is a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot-10, 175 pounds with a thin build. He has a tattoo on his neck, possibly on the right side, believed to be some kind of writing. He apparently has an accomplice as he was seen jumping into the passenger seat of an orange Dodge or Plymouth Neon.
A former Arlington police officer was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor by Dallas police on Friday. Anthony Hickman turned himself in to Dallas authorities after a warrant was issued. Dallas police said Hickman was caught during a sting operation initiated by a law enforcement agency in South Carolina. The Arlington Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division was told about the Dallas investigation Wednesday and launched an internal investigation. The investigation was terminated after Hickman resigned.
Barbeques Galore has signed a deal for a 200,825-square-foot distribution center in Arlington. The warehouse will be located at 3001 E. Pioneer Parkway and will replace the company’s distribution center in Los Angeles. Barbeques Galore has 165 stores in the United States and Australia.
The city is considering raising the pet adoption fee from $60 to as much as $123 for dogs and $78 for cats to pay for additional medical services such as a full-time veterinarian, on-site sterilization, rabies vaccinations and additional medical testing that will be provided next year when the new animal shelter opens. Current fees include the cost of core vaccinations, microchipping, a city license and a discount coupon for spaying or neutering.
